Frequently asked questions

Questions

Where do the bids come from?

Public sources only: SAM.gov for federal work anywhere in New England; the state bid boards for Massachusetts (COMMBUYS), Connecticut (CTsource), Rhode Island (Ocean State Procures, plus RIVIP for RI towns and quasi-public agencies) and Vermont (Vermont Business Registry & Bid System); and the bid pages of 276 cities and towns we check directly, including Boston, Worcester, Springfield and Providence (155 in Massachusetts, 50 in Connecticut, 29 in New Hampshire, 17 in Maine, 16 in Rhode Island, 9 in Vermont). New Hampshire's and Maine's state bid sites block automated access, so for those states we cover federal and town bids for now. Many towns post only on their own sites or in local papers, so we can't promise every town bid yet — we add more town pages every week.

Can I get bids from just my area?

Yes. Pick one or more states, then narrow to counties, specific towns, or "within N miles of" your town. You can also include statewide bids (state agencies and contracts with no town listed) for the states you work in.

Can I get alerts for specific words, not just trades?

Yes. Add up to 20 optional keywords (for example "fire alarm" or "playground"). A keyword matches any bid that mentions it, in any trade, as long as it's in the area you picked. You can change keywords anytime from the link in your emails.

What does a BidPip email look like?

Like this sample, built from today's real bids: one email each weekday morning with only the new bids that match, grouped by trade, each with the agency, location, due date and a direct link.

Is there a free option?

Yes. The free weekly email sends the top 5 open bids for one trade in one state every Monday. No card needed. You can browse every open bid on the site for free too. The paid plan adds daily alerts for all your trades, filtered to your towns, counties or radius.

Why do some bids say "by end of day" with "listed as 12:00 AM"?

Some sources (mostly COMMBUYS) list a deadline as 12:00 AM when the agency gave a date but no time. 12:00 AM is the very start of that date, so we show it as due by the end of the day before and keep the posted value visible. Always confirm the exact time with the issuing agency.

How is BidPip different from other bid services?

Versus the competition, BidPip covers only New England and goes deep: federal and town bids in all six states, the state bid boards for Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Vermont, and 276 town bid pages, filtered to your trades, keywords and towns. New Hampshire and Maine state boards are not included yet. The price is published ($29 a month, or $290 a year, for all six states), month-to-month, with a 14-day free trial and a 14-day refund. If you need bids nationwide, a broad national board may fit better. Why BidPip.

Is this the same as the Central Register?

No. The Central Register is the Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth's weekly legal-notice publication, and BidPip doesn't include it. BidPip is an independent alert service that compiles the public sources above into a daily, filtered email.

Do I need a credit card for the trial?

Yes, but you won't be charged until day 15, and you can cancel anytime before then. The free weekly email doesn't need a card.

Can I change my trades and area later?

Anytime, from the link in every alert email, or just reply and tell us.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Email [email protected] within 14 days of any charge (your first payment after the trial or any renewal) for a full refund. The refund ends your subscription and your alerts right away. After 14 days that charge isn't refundable, but you can cancel anytime to stop future charges. If you cancel during the free trial, you're never charged. Full refund policy.

How do I cancel?

Use the Billing link at the bottom of any BidPip email. We'll email you a 6-digit code to confirm it's you, then you can cancel, switch between monthly and yearly billing, update your card or download receipts. Unsubscribing from the emails alone does not cancel your subscription or billing.

Can I put BidPip on my phone's home screen?

Yes. BidPip works in any phone or tablet browser, and you can add it like an app (no app store needed). iPhone or iPad (Safari): open bidpip.com, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen. Android (Chrome): open bidpip.com, tap the ⋮ menu, then Add to Home screen or Install app. It opens straight to Browse bids. Your alerts still come by email.

How do I contact BidPip?

Email [email protected]. We answer by email (there's no phone line). Mail: BidPip, PO Box 103, Holden, MA 01520.
